The Medical Group of Columbia is a Family Medical Office that provides full service medical care including pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Dr. Kennedy and Associates have been serving the people of Maury County for over 20 years.
R.DOUG KENNEDY, M.D.
The Medical Group of Columbia is led by R. Douglas Kennedy, M.D., who has cared for families in the Columbia community for over 19 years. Originally from Greenbrier, Tennessee, Dr. Kennedy completed his undergraduate degrees at Lambuth University, where he played basketball. Dr. Kennedy is a 1997 graduate of University of Tennessee Medical School in Memphis and completed a Family Medicine residency in the University of Tennessee Baptist Healthplex program in Memphis where he served as chief-resident. Dr. Kennedy is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. In addition to family practice, Dr. Kennedy is a FAA medical aviation examiner, DOT examiner and practices geriatric and hospice care in Maury, Lawrence and Giles counties. He is Medical Director of Poplar Estates Assisted Living, Amedysis Home Health and Avalon Hospice.
Dr. Kennedy and his wife, Jennifer, have made Columbia their home since 2000. The Kennedys and their four children, Kathryn, Cassie, Connor and Collin, enjoy playing sports and wake-surfing at the lake. Dr. Kennedy is a sports enthusiast and an avid golfer. He also gives back to the community by coaching local youth sports teams, baseball, softball, golf and basketball.

LEANN SCHMIDT, PA-C
Peggy LeAnn King Schmidt was born and raised in the Spring Hill and Columbia area. She graduated from Spring Hill High School in 2006. She attended Tennessee Technological University and graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a health science concentration. After college, LeAnn went on to Lincoln Memorial University for graduate studies where she graduated in 2013 with a Master’s of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies and obtained certification through NCCPA.
After graduation, LeAnn went on to practice in family medicine and urgent care. She joined Dr Kennedy and his associates in 2014 to continue working in family medicine in her hometown. LeAnn works closely with Dr. Kennedy to ensure health and wellness through preventative medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Tennessee Academy of Physician Assistants.
During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Terry, family and friends. She also enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors.

KELLY KELLEY, CRNP
Kelly Kelley was born and raised in southern Lawrence County, Tennessee, where she lives on her family farm. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama in Florence and worked as an Emergency Department RN for eleven years in Maury County, TN. During that time, she also worked as an Emergency Flight Nurse with Air Evac Lifeteam. Kelly shared her passion for emergency medicine with new graduates as the Clinical Educator for her department for seven of those 11 years. Kelly later received her Master of Science in Nursing from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN, and is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Kelly has over ten years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in urgent care, primary care, and pediatrics. Kelly enjoys working with all age groups and teaching preventative health activities.
Kelly also enjoys spending time with her husband and three sons, who are all avid sports fans. She also enjoys art, loves to paint and draw, and spends time working and raising goats on their family farm.
GINA B.GRAVES, RN FNP
Gina Graves is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse. She completed her bachelor’s in nursing at University of Tennessee Martin in 1995. While working in the Intensive Care Unit at Maury Regional Medical Center she continued to strive and returned for her Masters of Science in family practice as a Nurse Practitioner in 2000 from the University of Alabama Huntsville.
Gina began her nursing career 24 years ago at Maury Regional Medical Center focusing on patient care with a love for patients. She provides preventative care as well as care for chronic conditions, pediatrics, women’s health, behavioral health, and acute care treatment to patients of all ages. She believes that a partnership between provider and patient and education are the two of the most important aspects of primary care and improving the healthcare system. She is now accepting new patients from infants to geriatrics.
Mrs. Graves is married to Columbia native, Jerry Graves and they have two children. Outside of the office, Gina enjoys reading, painting, gardening and relaxing trips to the beach.
